Drawer Magnets

All EMI drawer magnets are available in stainless steel and now with rare earth cartridges!

Drawer magnets provide valuable protection for injection molding machines, molds and dies. Mounted on the throat of the molding machine, tramp metal is stopped from flowing into the machine by powerful rare earth magnets. Drawer magnets are available in painted and stainless steel in different styles to suit specific application needs. Our most popular sized drawer magnets with side gates are stocked items!

Each model has two rows of 1" diameter, stainless steel, magnetic cartridges, doubling the stopping power and staggered to assure that all material flows around them. EMI’s drawer magnets can be provided with undrilled mounting flange and casting, or we’ll drill and tap them to your specifications.

A clear plastic drawer face holds the magnets and removes quickly for cleaning and access. Standard models available in 4" x 4", with a total of three cartridges; 6" x 6", with five cartridges; and 8" x 8", with seven cartridges. The sturdy castings can support symmetrical loads up to several thousand pounds. If loads are not symmetrical, units must be independently braced. Rare earth magnets are strong permanent magnets made from alloys of rare earth elements. They are the strongest type of permanent magnets made and have significant performance advantages over ferrite or alnico magnets due to outstanding surface holding power. To avoid magnetically charging the housing, cartridges containing rare earth magnets are only available using our stainless steel housings. Select model 'DMSR' to begin removing even the smallest ferrous particles!

Optional features include:

Slide Shut-off Gate: Allows easy removal of the drawer face after material in the magnet body is emptied to processing. Included in models with a “GA” suffix.

Liquid Dispensing Port: Allows injection of liquid colorants and can also provide access for temperature probes.

Rear Discharge Dump Tube: Provides fast drain out of materials left in the magnet body after the shut-off gate is closed.

Purge Hopper: Allows injection of purging compounds without having to remove the hopper assembly. Magnets protect anything entering through the purge hopper.
